UNICEF Pledge Awards - Student Volunteer of the Year

The Learning Involvement Team hosted the annual UNICEF Pledge Award Ceremony on Friday 29 June 2012.

The event was attended by both the College Principal, Frances Wadsworth, Deputy Chief Executive, Andy Smith; as well as the Mayor of Croydon, Cllr Eddy Arram and several representatives from nationally recognised charities.

The culmination of the award ceremony was the relevation of the Croydon College student  'Volunteer of the Year 2012'. The results are as follows:

First place: Zainab Mullani (639 hours) - 'A' Levels

Runner up: Umar Salim (514 hours)  IT, Level 3

Third place: Kiran Raja (435 hours)- 'A' Levels

Zainab was astonished that she won this Award and comment about the UNICEF programme: "It's been an instrumental journey throughout, with Di Layelle [Croydon College's Student Life Manager] being a great support. I am really proud of myself and family is too. People at the College made me fell special by giving me the top award."

Overall our student population have contributed an incredible total of 15,900 volunteer hours during 2011/12 and we still receiving completed Pledge booklet for counting!
