Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships are work-based training programmes designed around the needs of employers; they lead to nationally recognised qualifications.

Employers can use Apprenticeships to train both new and existing employees.

Funding is available to train apprentices. Apprenticeships are designed by the Sector Skills Councils, while the National Apprenticeship Service helps to fund the training.

If the apprentice is 16-18 years old then the government will fund 100% of the training cost. If the apprentice is 19+ the government will fund 50% of the training cost.

Croydon College has a reduced fee of £150 per year for all apprentices who are 19+.

This small contribution is paid for by the employer and must not be taken out of the apprentice’s wages.
