Several apprentices attended the event with a select few exceptional candidates being nominated for the Apprentice of the Year Award. There was also an award for the Employers who had made a real difference to the Apprentice’s experience in the workplace, Outstanding Employer Contribution. The esteemed award was presented to Price Building services who have employed and effectively changed 34 candidates’ lives since 2014. They have consistently gone over and above helping their apprentices achieve results and this can be seen in their 95% success rate. We felt it necessary to acknowledge their hard work, and the support they give the local community by employing and training local people.

Cheryl’s hard work and dedication enabled her to achieve what to start with was seen by her as unachievable – she passed her maths exam with very good results and achieved her full framework within given time.  In addition, during the programme Cheryl often took a role of a leader, with other learners from the school kitchen being on a hospitality apprenticeship programme at a level 2. She made sure all her staff was revising for tests and completed their homework when deadline was approaching; she never let anyone to slip. Dedication, enthusiasm and persistence allowed Cheryl and her staff achieve a full apprenticeship.

Tom Collins, Assistant Principal Employability & Apprenticeships (APEA), added, 'The Graduation and Awards Ceremony held on Thursday March 8th was the highlight for the College of National Apprenticeship week. The focus of the evening was to acknowledge the hard work and determination that all of our apprentices put into completing their apprenticeship.

We also invited Employers and Parents/Carers to the event to acknowledge the level of support that they have given to our learners to help them reach their ultimate goal.

This definitely is the highlight of the year for all of the staff at Croydon College who work with and support our 600 apprentices and we wish our qualifying apprentices every success in their future careers.

I would also like to thanks one of our main sponsors "The Worshipful Company of Plumbers" for their contribution to making the evening a great success.'
